Mera Peak climbing - 15 Days


Mera Peak 6476m is highest among trekking peak lies in Hungu Valley, starts from Lukla 2835m ( 35-40 min flight from  Kathmandu)  and about  six- seven days trek pass by Rhododendron, oak, silver fir and birch forests, past beautiful alpine lakes, and finally we up for foot of Mera Glacier where we’ll establish base camp.  We’ll set up  advance high camps  5800 m.  From here it is a steady and steep climb to reach the summit, with excellent views of Kanchenjunga and Makalu to the east, Everest and Lhotse to the north, and Ama Dablam to west.

Tour Itinerary


Day 01

Kathmandu 1300 m /Lukla flight then trek to Chutanga 3 hrs.


Day 02: Chutanga to Pangoma 3173m, 7 hrs.

From bank of Dudhkoshi descend . Most of the trail is well graded, though it sometimes passes through terraced fields and the yards of houses, then descends steeply through forests to a Chautara (resting place) overlooking the river. Follow the river for a while through forests, and then climb through terraces to reach the Rai village of Jubing (1,667 m.) in 40 minutes. Climb through the village, round a ridge and aim for the prominent notch in front of you. From the notch, contour to the village of Khari Khola (2,004 m.) Then trail descends from Khari Khola village and crosses a stream with the same name on a suspension bridge near some water driven mills at 2,010 m., then makes a steep climb inhabitated by Sherpa, Rai, and Magar. Overnight at Pangoma.


Day 03: Pagomme / camp under the ridge around altitude of altitude 3700m (chhetrala) 7 hrs.

W hile we continue trek from Pangoma towards to Chhetrala this day is the most long day in this trekking trip , we will continue trek uphill passing Rhododendron forest and grazing fields.


Day 04: Chhetrala - Tashiongma 3500m trek 5 hrs.

during this day trek we can nice view of Mera Peak south face , passes through the blue alpine trees and with climbing uphill this day trek.


Day 05: Tashiongma -Tagnag 4350 m.

This day trek to west bank of Hunku draka northward gradually climb kharka with small monastery and many prayer flags , offer by the climbers who goes to Baruntse and other local people. During this day we can see Kusum Kangaru 6255m , 20522 ft . In particular, peak 43, which rises to 6,769 meters (22,208 ft.) north-west by Tangnag, will make the pulse quicken and the palms sweat of anyone with an eye for a line. Tangnag is also the best for those interested in the east in the east and north – east side of Kusum Kanguru.


Day 06: Tanagnag – Khare ( Mera peak Base Camp 4900 mt -west ) 4 hrs.

From Tangnag the valley steepens and bends sharply to the east where the path follows the lateral moraine of the Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka. Once again the setting is spectacular with the view dominated by the abruptly terminated crest of the Charpati Himal that forms peak 43. Those with a lust for exploration will take time to stay a little longer at Dig Kharka to explore northwards along the Hinku Glacier and the approach route to Kangtega Some may prefer to place a base camp below the pass on the Hinku side at Khare.


Day 07

Base Camp rest.


Day 08: Base Camp to west High camp of Mera peak 5800 m. trek about 5 hrs 30 minutes

This is high camp . There are several 'sites', this is the rock ledge that is very sheltered and so sherpas are fond of it. Be warned that the rocks above don't just look precarious.


Day 09 : High Camp - Mera peak Summit 6476m , 5hrs and return to camp at North side Mera Base Camp 5200m 3 hrs.

This is steep enough that most people feel more comfortable with a 50 m. section of rope fixed. The summit is by far the most commonly climbed summit. From the summit no less than five of the world's 14 , 8000 m. , 26240 ft mountains are visible. The panorama is superb, one of the best in the Himalaya. Even from high camp the view is fantastic. after that we will descend to Dik kharka


Day 10

Extra day for summit.


Day 11

Dik Kharka to Gondi Shung 4150 m.


Day 12

Gondisung to Samga Kharka 4625 m.


Day 13

Samga kharka to traverse Jatra la 4943 m. and night at Chutanga.


Day 14

Chutanga to Lukla.


Day 15

Lukla -Kathmandu flight back and transfer to hotel .
