Day 01: Kathmandu - Paro

Arrival at Thimphou Paro Airport from Kathmandu by Druk Air (Airbus 319), the national air carrier, after a flight in which you can admire the majestic landscape of the Himalayan range. After completing the visa requirements, you will be greeted by a local agent and transferred to the Hotel at Paro.

Day 02: Paro - Thimphou

Visit of Paro, one of the 20 districts (dzongkhags) of Bhutan, starting with the visit of the fortified monastery Drugyel Dzong whose ruins attract many visitors. Drugyel Dzong, located in a strategic location about thirty kilometers west of Thimphu, the Paro Valley against the invasion of Tibetans from the north to the seventeenth century. On a clear day, you can see the Jomo'lhari 7314m mountain, which dominates the Sino-Bhutanese border with its . The route continues through a beautiful valley in the direction of the tower called Ta-Dzong, which only runs in a clockwise direction. It became a national museum in 1960 by a decree of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Throughout its seven floors, it presents various aspects of the Bhutanese culture and history of the seventh century. In the afternoon, departure for Thimphou, the Bhutanese capital located 55 km, or 1h30, from there. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Thimphou - Wangdue Phodrang - Lobesa

Visit sites of East Thimphou, starting with the stupa (chörten) built in memory of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck then continuation of the visit with the Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest monastery of Thimphou, established in the 12th century, and Drupthob.

In the afternoon, departure for the district (dzongkhag) of Wangdue Phodrang, 3 hours drive from Thimphou, at an altitude of 3100m passing by Dochula to admire Druk Wangyel, consisting of 108 stupas and d 'a temple. In good weather, nice panoramic views of the Himalayan chain of Mt Gangar Punsum 7520m. Finally, drive down to the Lobesa Valley, the region with the mildest climate in the whole country, visiting the dzong and the local market.

Day 04: Punakha - Thimphou - Paro

In the morning, drive to Punakha, the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and visit the dzong, known as the Palace of the Great Blessing (Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong), which now houses the district administration (dzongkhag) . This remarkable fortified monastery built between two rivers has survived multiple fires and floods. Every year in February there is a procession called Punakha Serda, commemorating the Bhutanese victory over the Tibetans.

Return trip to Thimphou and lunch. In the afternoon, departure to Paro for the visit of the oldest dzong of Bhutan, the Simzokha Dzong. Built in 1629 under the reign of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the country's unifying king, this venerable building now houses a Buddhist university.
