Day 1: Kathmandu - Dhunche 1965m - Shyabrubensi 1830m

Transfer by road which rises as soon as one leaves Kathmandu and crosses a small pass to Kakani, at 2145m. On a clear day, the panorama is superb on the Annapurna II, the Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal massif. We then plunge between the rice terraces of the broad Trisuli valley, to reach the big village of Trisuli Bazar 548m. The roadway narrows, winds its way between many spurs, finally arrives at Dhunche and a few kilometers away, terminus at Shyabrubesi.

Day 2: Shyabrubesi - Riverside 2000m

The walk begins in the middle of the rice fields. The terraces, very regular, stand on the slope, silent witnesses of the work of men. A suspension bridge crosses the Langtang Khola. On the opposite bank, pleasant progression in the middle of a dense forest of pines, birches, oaks and bamboos. Be careful, the herds of Langur monkeys inhabit the forest in number, as well as several varieties of multicolored birds. Day 3: Riverside - Gore Tabela 2970m

The day opens with a rough climb, under the draperies of many waterfalls. A gradual descent leads to Lama Hotel. The vegetation changes: maples, oaks, rhododendrons with breathtaking spring flowering surround us. As heralds of the high mountains, the sparkling flanks of Langtang Lirung are gradually revealed. The altitude increases, the sparse forest gives way to shrubs.

Day 4: Gore Tabela - Langtang 3430m

Short day to optimize our acclimatization, but the continual climb must be approached with a measured step. Stop at the National Park check-post where, in a cheerful good-nature, the local official stamps our permits. Emerging from the narrow gorge, the path engages In a wide glacial valley: the world of altitude begins here. Walls of mani engraved with the mantra "Om Mani Padme Um", triptych protectors of the village, flags with prayers floating in the wind, chörtens, mark the entry in Buddhist earth. Do not forget, in order not to incur the wrath of the deities, all these religious monuments go round by the left! Langtang, the only village in the upper valley, awakens under a brilliant light. Day 5: Langtang - Kyanjin Gompa 3870m

Extensive pastures spread out beyond the village. The perfect pyramid of the Dorje Lakpa closes the valley. We always gain altitude, but regularly: walking is easier than the day before. The rocky swell of an ancient moraine constitutes a promontory from which We discover the Kyanjin monastery standing out on the icy sides of Langtang Lirung. Another hour of walking to reach this isolated place, ultimate habitat of the valley. After the picnic, the most courageous can climb the slopes of the Kyanjin Ri (4773 m). Unless you prefer a visit to the local cheese dairy, a witness to the help provided by the Swiss in the 1960s.

Day 6: Kianjin Gompa - Lama Hotel 3020m

Lama Hotel is a one-stop drive. After our stay in altitude, return to the rainforest! The change is abrupt.

Day 7: Lama Hotel - Upper Village of Shyabru 2260m

Continuation of descent. Shortly after the stage of the first evening, we branch off towards the upper village of Shyabru. The path rises in a balcony. Approximately 80 dwellings lined up on a forest spur are pressed against each other. The oldest, with carved windows and carved beams, is a fine example of the work of tamang carpenters.

Day 8: Shyabru - Dhunche

The stage begins with a rough climb to reach the chörtens and prayer flags that mark the watershed between Langtang Khola and the Trisuli basin. All that remains is to let us slip between the hills covered with pines and rhododendrons to the rice fields of the valley. At their feet, our bus awaits us for a short transfer of 30 minutes.
