Touch the icy waters of Phoksundo Lake, see yak caravans cross high-Himalayan passes, visit some of the highest settlments on earth like the Dho-Tarap valley; Dolpa will never cease to amaze you. Dolpa or Dolpo was popularized by the film “Caravan” which showcases the extraordinary untouched beauty of the region between clear lake and colorful rocks, this circuit starts with a real discovery of the whole Dolpo bottom where live yak breeders named drokpas.

Day 01

Arrival to Kathmandu Transfer to hotel, Transfer: Accommodation: Hotel

Free day in Kathmandu, for the permit procedure.

Day 03: Flight to Nepalgunj

Fly to Nepalgunj and overnight at the hotel.
Transfer: 1 hrs 30 minutes
Accommodation: Hotel

Day 04: Flight to Juphal, Trek Dunai (2150 m)

45 minutes flying to Juphal. This flight subject to weather condition and may be delayed or canceled (note: this may affect the program). In Juphal, meeting with the local staff and beginning of the Trek to Dunai.

Day 05 : Trek to Dunai - Chepka (2630 m)

Passing a suspended bridge at Dunai before embarking on an hour's walk along the torrent to reach the confluence with the Suli Gad, a great torrent that descends from Phoksundo Lake. Go up the hill to Hanke (2460 m) by a good path that spans twice the rushing torrent using footbridges. Continue by a new path that overlooks the rumbling waters of the torrent. Campsite in Chepka.

Day 06 - Trek to Camp of the Bridge (3010 m)

Day mainly in forest with beautiful views from the corbelled paths on the valley of the Suli Gad. In 2002, new portions of trails were cut, avoiding several climbs and descents. Lunch in front of the Regi. At the confluence of the valley leading to the Kagmara La, there is only 25 minutes of walking before our encampment overlooking the torrent.

Day 07: Trek to shores of Phoksundo Lake (3560 m)

Passage to Palam (winter village of the inhabitants of Phoksundo) and steep climb to a high point 3650m; Spectacular view of the waterfalls of the Phoksundo Lake . Easy descent to Ringmo, a beautiful village with two gompas (one in the middle), the other nestled on the shores of the lake). Camp by the lake: beware, it is forbidden to bathe because of religious beliefs Afternoon devoted to the visit of the village and the gompas.

Day 08: Lake Phoksumdo 3560m

Day dedicated to the discovery of the shores of Lake Phoksumdo and the village of Ringmo. Discovery of a village of character with its inhabitants chiselled and isolated gompas. Same exceptional camp by the lake.

Day 09: Trek to Baga Base Camp 3950m

Climb to Ronan and continue to the base camp of Baga La, at the edge of the vegetation .

Day 10: Trek to Bagala 5180m, Numala 5280m, Shering Gompa 4400m

Long day at high altitude. Ascent to the stony collar of Baga La, located some 1250 meters higher! From the pass, descends into an isolated located between the two passes. Some Yaks graze where found rare herbs. Ascent to Numa la to switch to the valley of Dho and set up the camp near to the gompa of Shering towards 4400 m. Superb view over the high valley of the Tarap.

Day 11: Trek to Dho (3980 m)

Quietly, we descend the Tarap valley. Visit some gompas: villages of Tango and Chumaga, hermitage of Zur, of Kagar. An indispensable stop at the "Cristal Mountain School", a unique school in the heart of Dolpo, will show that the future can also exist for these high valleys. set up the camp at the exit of the village of Dho. Possible stroll to the gompa of Sibchog at the end of the day, pretty and nice on the valley of Dho.

Day 12: Trek to Gyamghar (3760 m)

Morning see around inhabitants of Dho: discovery of a moment of life in this village far from everything. Descent to Langa, alpine and camp area, before into the narrow gorges of Tarap Khola. Camp in Gyamghar.

Day 13: Trek to Tarap Khola (3350 m)

Descent into the gorges on a steep trail entirely made by hand. Between suspended terraces and banks of river, the road, sometimes narrow, need to be attention during the trek.
Accomodation: Camp
Trek : 6 hrs.
Altitude: +300 m / -710 m

Day 14: Trek to Tarakot 2540m

Again descend to the cross Barbung Khola. From there, the road runs towards Tarakhot before climbing to Sahartara.
Accommodation: Camp
Trek : 4 hrs 30 minutes
Elevation: +90 m / -690m

Day 15: Trek to Juphal (2475m)

little descent for cross with Barbung Khola. From there, the road towards Tarakot before climbing to Sahartara.
Trek : 4 hrs 30 minutes
Elevation: +125 m / -60 m
